History

Golden Brush Painting & Decorating was founded by George Katsikas, who completed his apprenticeship in Greece. Studying under master painters, he excelled at his craft, becoming an exceptional painter and decorator, with wide experience in the various finishing techniques.

After migrating to Australia in 1970 with his family, he worked for an employer on a number of different painting projects. In 1975 George established his own business, Golden Brush Painting & Decorating.

His first major painting project was working for the Darwin Reconstruction Commission, set up in February 1975, following the devastation of Cyclone Tracy. George worked in Darwin for over a year and we are very proud knowing that Golden Brush was a part of the rebuilding of Darwin.

Other significant historic projects on which Golden Brush has worked include:

  • Westfield Burwood renovation works in 1976
  • David Jones building, Elizabeth Street Sydney
  • The North Sydney Suspension Bridge maintenance works, painting the steel work with anti-corrosion paints

Over the years, Golden Brush Painting & Decorating has worked as a contractor on project developments in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, restorations in Double Bay, Vaucluse and Paddington, as well as many domestic and commercial projects. We have a respectful long standing relationship with many Real Estate Agencies in the Inner Western suburbs of Drummoyne, Haberfield, Five Dock and Strathfield. Today, Golden Brush Painting & Decorating continues as a family business where George and his son-in-law, Carmelo Rodilosso, manage their team of professional painters, continuing the legacy that began over 35 years ago – commitment to providing an excellent service to each and every customer.
